truth about Fatherless Men

The Diary of a Mad Black Woman-
The romance between Orlando and Helen is the most heartfelt and sweetest. I really love them.

A Walk to Remember-
Oldie but goodie, classic.

Hotarubi No Mori E
- So sweet, so sublime, so endearing. The last scene is just the most beautiful 💜  I think it takes a special soul to write something like this.

The African Doctor-
Not the traditional romance movie as he's already married with kids, but still so heartfelt and beautiful. The movie depicted his resiliency and love for his family. He was willing to work any job for his family's survival even with being an actual doctor. I deeply admired and respect that quality in him. Just an incredibly beautiful story, family and community. Now I want to rewatch it again.

Two Can Play that Game- This movie made me who I am lol. I cannot tell you the amount of times I watched this movie growing up, probably in the hundreds lol. Okay let me go watch it one more time, I haven't seen it since I was a teenager. Hopefully it's just as good as I remembered.

..... Just finished watching it again. I smiled so hard and laughed so much the entire time 10/10. Chemistry was so hot and Morris Chestnut, oh my, I forgot how fine he was.

Coco Chanel- this version (I can’t find it anywhere to watch anymore :(. It’s like they banned it in America for some reason (the movie is in French). Oh m gee Boy, I was so smitten by the actor playing him. This movie is devastatingly sweet, yet prideful. You cannot be prideful in love. Beautiful and tragic and heartwarming at the same time. Ugh, I want a happy ever after and I want to watch it again.

My Way- My absolute fave. A romance of friendship, endurance, perseverance, and lessons learned. The absolute best.

When calls the Heart-
This is a series on the hallmark channel, it is simply the best. If you want to learn how to love and be loved, watch this incredible series starting at season 1 or starting at season 11 (this is where I originally started watching it). Jack & Elizabeth 🩷, Nathan & Elizabeth 💜. I also find the actors real lives to be fascinating as they are all dating each other but with a mix-match twist lol.

Imposters-
Not the traditional romance, but such a fun series.

Being Mary Jane-
This is an excellent show and great series. Maybe don't take any dating advice from Mary Jane lol, but you can live vicariously through her myriad experiences lol

The last two movie synopsis are longer because I wrote them a few years back after watching the movie.

Brooklyn-
Every woman and girl should watch this movie. It will teach you how to date and how a man is supposed to treat you. It is VERY realistic and overall an amazing movie.

In one of the scene, the main character's boyfriend was running late for one of their date. When he finally showed up 10 minutes later, he sincerely expressed to her that he was stuck at work and literally left his work site the way it was once he realized what time it was. He was in his plumber clothes when he came to her door. He told her he was fixing a 6 inch shit leak, but when he saw that it was almost time for the date, he told the client he had to leave and came rushing to her house. His response was, "there's no difference between 6 inches of shit and a foot of shit. It can wait."

Later on in the movie, the main character expressed that she would be going back home to Ireland to care for her mother. She reassured and promised her boyfriend that he had nothing to worry about and that she would come back since he was acting as though it would be the last time he would see her. He said to her, if you can make that promise, you can marry me before you go. She responded with, "do you not trust me?" His response again was, "if you can make that promise, you can commit to me, marry me." He was so afraid to lose her. He understood her value. You'll have to watch to see the outcome. What I also loved about the movie was the sisterhood that was displayed and how the majority of the women in the movie had no problem helping each other. In one scene they even taught the main character how to eat spaghetti properly before meeting her bf's family.

Me before you- The absolute best ever. This movie was funny, quirky, sweet, beautiful, romantic, sad and everything in between. It is by far one of my most favorite love story. And can I just say how incredibly gorgeous the actor who played Will is, omgg. He had me swooning even with being in a wheelchair. Ok, I need to go rewatch it now. Below is my synopsis of the movie (spoiler alert)

Let me just say, it took me a while before I actually watched this movie. I disliked the concept that the love interest was disabled. I don’t like stories that pawn women off on sickly, disabled or beastly men (hence why I don't like beauty and the beast. Beast was an asshole too, but I digress lol). Nonetheless, there was something that drew me to the movie and I decided to give it a chance and maybe give it a couple of eye rolls if it turned out to be the typical b.s. However, instead, what I found was a beautiful love story that encompassed so many emotions.

The movie is about a quirky, kind and outgoing woman (Louisa Clark) who was hired to take on the task of keeping a sour quadriplegic man's (Will Traynor) company. Before his accident Will was quite successful, extremely attractive, outgoing, fun, adventurous, charming, confident, bold, daring and had a spirit and air for life. Will came from an extremely wealthy and well-off background. Will's character started out as sour but after being put in his place by Lou, he quickly started warming up to her. A slow respect and love naturally developed between them due to their close interaction with each other (This is also why I stress to women to be careful of where they spend the majority of their time). This is around the point in the movie where I would start giving the side eye. Fortunately, Will took a left turn and confessed to Lou that as much as he loved and cared about her, he could not be with her because he could not be the person he wanted to be for her due to his bodily limitations. He told her she deserved better and meant it. He stated that he could not stomach the possibility that she may end up resenting the union and then feeling obligated or guilt-riddled into staying with him.

"Will Traynor: No Clarke. This could be a good life, but it's not my life, it's not even close. You never saw me before. I loved my life. I really loved it. I can't be the kind of man who just accepts this.

Lou Clark: You're not giving it a chance, you're not giving me a chance. I have become a whole new person these last six months because of you.

Will Traynor: I know and thats why I can't have you tied to me. I don't want you to miss all the things that someone else can give you. And selfishly I don't want you to look at me one day and feel even the tiniest bit of regret or pity.

Lou Clark: I would never think that!

Will Traynor: You don't know that. I can't watch you wondering around the annex in your crazy dresses. Or see you naked and not be able to... oh Clarke if you have any idea what I want to do to you right now. I can't live like this.

Lou Clark: Please Will! Please!

Will Traynor: Shh. Listen, this, tonight being with you is the most wonderful thing you could have ever done for me. But I need it to end here. No more pain and exhaustion and waking up every morning already wishing it was over. It's not going to get better than this. The doctors know it and I know it. When we get back, I'm going to Switzerland so I'm asking you if you feel the things you say you feel. Come with me.

Lou Clark: I thought I was changing your mind!

Will Traynor: Nothing was ever going to change my mind. I promised my parents six months and thats why I have given them.

Lou Clark: No! Don't say another word. You're so selfish. I tore my heart out in front of you and all you can say is no. And now you want me to come and watch the worst thing you could possibly imagine. Do you have any idea what you're asking? I wish I had never taken this stupid job. I wish I had never met you."
....

Will fully understood and accepted his limitations in life. The most conflicted decision he had to make was the need and desire to stay with his loved ones yet understanding that sometimes need, desire and love are not enough and that sometimes when you love somebody immensely and truly, the best gift you can give them given the circumstances is the gift of freedom. The gift that allows them to soar their wings without them feeling that they must be burdened by your own personal limitations and short-comings.

This movie depicted the action of love and what it truly means to love. Love is so much. Love is overcoming desire and need to ultimately do what's best for self and what's best for those whom you love the most. The main character in the movie chose to die on his own accord. He chose to die even though he had the best love he had ever experienced in his life, at his grasp. There were so many things he wanted to do to blossom that love, but life circumstances and his personal limitations could not allow him to fulfill them in the way he wanted to and the way he believed his loved ones deserved. When a man truly loves a woman, there is nothing in life he will not sacrifice for her.

In the end, Will accepted his faith and gave his love the finances, courage, motivation and opportunity to spread her wings. He gave her the chance to experience the world in the best and most fitting way, without her feeling burdened or obligated by his presence and limitations. Through his love and compassion, he allowed her to experience a new existence, and reality. Sometimes love is making the decision to go even when your heart desires to stay. Love is first loving yourself enough to do what's best for yourself and then loving somebody just as much to also do and want what's best for them, even if the best somehow excludes you. This is love. Love is action, love is tangibility. This movie depicted the meaning of love and the meaning of manhood.

At the end of the movie, Will says to Lou, posthumously via a letter he had written for her, "A few weeks should have passed by the time you read this. If you follow the instructions, you'll be in Paris on one of those chairs that never sit quite level on a pavement. I hope it's still sunny. Across the bridge to your right, you'll see L'artisan Parfumeur. You should try the scent called Papiomextrem. I always did think it would smell great on you. There are few things I wanted to say and couldn't because you would've gotten emotional and you wouldn't have let me finish. So, here it is. When you get back home, Michael Lawler will give you access to a bank account that contains enough to give you a new beginning. Don't start panicking. It's not enough for you to sit around for the rest of your life but it should buy you your freedom, at least from that little town we both call home. Live boldly, Clark. Push yourself. Don't settle. Wear those stripy legs with pride. Knowing you still have possibilities is a luxury, knowing I might have given them to you. This eased something for me. So, this is it. You are scored on my heart, Clark. You have been the first day you walked in with your sweet smile and your ridiculous clothes and your bad jokes and your complete inability to ever hide a single thing you felt. Don't think of me too often. I don't want you getting sad. Just live well. Just live. I'll be walking beside you every step of the way. Love, Will."

Now you see why I absolutely love this movie. I can envision Will and Lou meeting again in another life, living out the dreamiest of love story. The outside world may envy their love not realizing the road they had to travel.  This is why I smile and love seeing couples in love, true love. You just don't know what their stories encompass or where they are coming from over countless lifetimes.
